These types of third-party certifications are complex, involving very specific procedures and targets. But there are benefits: the assessment process generates important and useful information for producers about their farming system and practices; and when certified, it provides an opportunity to distinguish their products in the marketplace, perhaps resulting in a price premium and higher profit margins. |
